Description:

The field has the classic 2-1-2 format.

A large red central medallion is displayed on a rich indigo ground.

The central medallion is flanked by stepped and hooked 'Memling'-type polygons.

This example is distinguished by exceptionally fine weave, skillful design execution and a range of deeply saturated colors.

An imaginative distribution of secondary motifs contributes a welcome spontaneity to this tradition design.

Condition:
There is varying degrees of loss on all four sides. The extant pile, however, is in excellent condition.

Warps:
Wool, hand-spun, natural ivory and shades of brown.
 
Wefts:

Wool, natural dark brown, two wefts between each row of knots.

 
Knots:
Asymmetrical inclined to the left.
 
Sides:

Most of the side construct is lost, damaged or not original to the weaving.

 
Ends:

Most of the end construct is lost or not original to the weaving.
