418 Kilim 418 Detail two
Title:
Anatolian Kilim, Village of Cal, Western Turkey
Size:
37” x 118” (93.9 x 199.7cm)
Circa:
1880
Cat. #:
418
Description:

The coloration is perhaps its most distinctive feature.

These all natural, deeply saturated colors are frequently described as 'warm', bold and assertive.

Slight irregularity in the placement of the various bands is an interesting touch.

Condition:

Very good considering its age and the probability that this weaving was originally a functional piece intended for use within the family unit.

There is evidence of several old repairs and two small stains.

The surface of the piece has very minor surface wear.

Structure:

Rather than the more typical slit-tapestry this kilim is done in weft-faced plain weave.

The foundation consists of natural, hand-spun cotton.

Price:

$6,500.00 (plus shipping outside the USA)
